Changes, Challenges... Lessons in Independence : )))

It’s been rainy and dreary for the past couple of days.  And the rain makes me think.  A lot.  Scary, I know : ) And since I am coming to the end of my Junior year, and actually the end of my year blogging for Albright College, I decided it was a really good time to look back on the past few years and see what I see. Change.  Wow.  You know, when you are in the middle of all of it… growing up, I mean…you get buried a bit in it.  But, once you have come through some of the really tough stuff,…See More

"My most memorable moment this year at Albright was the day my little brother, Anthony, came in and placed his deposit down to become part of Albright’s class of 2017.  Through the past few years since I have been here, in his visits, in…"

Centipedes, crafts, and kindness to creatures : )

I set a centipede free this morning. Mind you, my first instinct when I see a bug is to … you know… get RID of it…. But I was on the phone with my mother. I made the mistake of freaking out, and telling her my plan to dispose of it. My mother has a simple way to handle bugs and other creatures who wander in…if they were in the house, get them outside. Unharmed. And oh…when we were little, we would proudly bring a lizard or frog up from the creek or the field, my mom would admire it, then tell…See More

I’m overly emotional when I’m sick… : )

I actually cried at work today.  I’m not particularly proud of this, mind you, but it is an interesting story, and while I’m at it, I will admit that I cried just a little during my Thursday class, too.  Okay, and Mason has seen some tears this week, too : )Let me start by explaining that I am really sick.  Really sick.  I am on steroids, asthma medicine and antibiotics… I’m tired, achy, dreadfully cranky and whiney to boot (which you will all attest to after reading this)  Add to this the fact…See More

when i grow up....

What do you want to be when you grow up?  I mean, they have been asking us this question since we were so young, and really, it becomes such a source of stress once we graduate from high school and realize that we actually have to make some choices based on that very question.  What school are you going to choose, what major will you take and what classes are you going to begin with?I watched a video this week that inspired some serious thinking.  It was about making your life about doing what…See More

Basketball, Bingo, Baby Brother, Baseball and Buses : )

Sorry.  February got away with me.  : )  Too much reading.  A bit of Netflix.  Maybe some “call of duty”.  Crazy busy with work.  Lots of winter snuggling.  A psych test that I was pretty sure was going to kill me.  The most wonderful Valentine’s day I ever dreamed of.  Snow storms.  Ice storms.  Family visits.  And definitely a lot of fun. : )))  Now, where do I begin…  This past month I have had the great honor of taking some prospective history professors on tour of our lovely campus, which…See More

Christmas, Kisses, Carbonara and Carpooling

Christmas break was so, so sweet.  : )))) With the pressure of finals over, I spent most of my time exactly as planned.  I slept so late, ate so many wonderful things.   : )  I watched movies… or at least the beginning of sooo many movies until I fell sound asleep, (haha) I went sleigh riding, got my very first kiss in the snow, went shopping, got so many wonderful gifts from both sides of my family, got to soak up family time, Christmas gatherings, laughter and the warmth of being surrounded…See More

Classes over, Christmas break, cookies, cozy moments, and CRAZY happy : )))

Semester, OVER.  *Phew (as I wipe my brow)  I have to admit, I think that I got my butt kicked quite completely many times over the course of the semester … had moments…a few, in fact, when I was pretty much stressed to tears, (I actually have a witness to this lol) wanted to curl up in a ball and hide in my closet, and never believed that my Unit Plan for my education class would EVER be finished. But alas, here I am, my first free weekend in a long time, with nothing more to do than blog about…See More

Oh, honey, if I knew then what I know now.... : )))

If you could go back in time and visit the person you were, walking into that dorm room for the first time as a freshman, what would you tell yourself? I’ve been thinking about this a lot as I approach the end of 2012 and the end of my first semester as a junior here at Albright. I think about how much I have changed, what I have seen, and who I have become.I would look at her, that girl who is excitedly putting up all those pictures, flags, posters and decorations, more nervous that she has…See More

To Albright College: Thank you : )))

Thanksgiving is a mere 3 days away, and in my blogs I am always thankful for the many wonderful blessings in my life, my families, my love, my experiences… and as I sit here in my room today, just having returned from a Sociology field trip to the King of Prussia Mall, getting ready for a good dinner in the cafeteria followed by a productive night of work (if I can resist the urge to continue reading “Killing Kennedy”),  I would like to dedicate this blog to the many things I am thankful for at…See More

My parents: 23 years... A groovy kind of love....

My parents celebrated their 23rd anniversary a couple of weeks ago.  23 happy years.  Trust me with this.  I know it’s rare, but I’m not kidding here.  In the 21 years that I have watched them, they have taught me love and laughter, support and respect, and true happiness.  Honestly, they are my role models.  So in celebration of their anniversary, I’m going to tell you a bit about them, and what they have taught me about love… They met in an Italian restaurant when my mother was a waitress, 18…See More
