Nearing the End

While I still have a couple weeks left in my internship, it's not going to be long until I leave to go back home. I'm sad yet  happy about it, I've missed being home, but there has been a lot that I have learned just from being here. I have made some really good friends here, seen a lot of places, tried new foods, had my first experience of living alone, living on a budget, and so much more! I've missed my family a lot, and want to spend some more time with them in Cincinnati before I leave to…See More

You're not always going to be "perfect"

The purpose of an internship is to provide a real life experience of what a typical day in the office is going to look like. I knew that before going in and that was exactly what I got.I was sort of nervous for the work however, seeing that I hadn't heard of Campaign Asia-Pacific before my internship and I didn't know how they wrote their articles. Since I've been here for a few weeks, and gotten used to a working schedule, I can now say that I have had a fair share of experiences when my boss…See More

How One Email Changed Everything

When I first came to Hong Kong, while I had met a lot of people from the area through school, I didn't have any contacts. I was truly only a tourist, and was by myself. At first it was lonesome, up until the point that I had to go to neighboring Macau to re-enter Hong Kong to have my work visa validated. After furiously contacting NextStep Connections, to figure out how to get to Macau, they finally sent me the emails of three people who had gone to Macau a little while earlier. After emailing…See More

Learning Experiences

Within my time in Hong Kong there have been a few things that I have learned about myself. I realized that I am able to comfortably live on my own without too many difficulties, make do with my surroundings and be able to cope with cultural differences.  I have learned how to transcribe and edit video fairly well, a skill I didn't know I could do really. Also, in terms of writing copy for the online magazine in the correct format, I was able to grasp the concept in a fairly short amount of…See More

Bulletin Post

Today, my editor decided to give me the opportunity to post an article onto the online bulletin. It was a major opportunity for me, and is going to officially be my third published work for Campaign Asia! See More

Articles, Research and More Responsibility at Work

Being almost 19, I am officially the youngest intern here. Not just at my workplace, but among my peers as well. With being young, comes a lot of responsibility. I have a lot to prove to my co-workers. They're all asking why is she here and what is she capable of.I knew that there was going to be some initial worries, so I took it upon myself to try to drive those worries aside. So within the first few weeks, I got to know my co-workers, Emily, David, Ben and Jenny and grabbed any opportunity I…See More

Advice to Potential Students

As a current international internship student, I can honestly say that this experience was one that is truly worth it, and my advice would be to grab any study abroad opportunity! Being in Asia, specifically Hong Kong in my case, alone has a lot of advantages. While some places might be a little crowded, there is always someone around at all hours making it extremely safe. There are a lot of places to go visit and the transportation system (even if you come from an area in the US that…
