Word Exchange

We can all speak the same language and still not understand each other. As we all know everything has different ways to be said or has different names. My British friend took some time out of her day to sit with me and go over some words and phrases. I also added some i picked up along the wayThis was a lot of fun. I also added some words that were used daily. AMERICAN term/phrase on the left- BRITISH "LONDON" term/phrase on the rightRestroom-toiletTo go (take food to go)-take…See More

My year of travels

As my year of travels comes to an end I feel as Julia Roberts playing the woman in eat pray love. She spent all that time traveling meeting new people and immersing herself in their culture. She picked up many traits and learned so much about herself. She ended up changing a lot. Some more than other times it was for her own good and not what people always wanted or knew her for. I feel very similar to that. I learned who was there for me throughout the trips and the short times I was home. I…See More

Barcelona

Barcelona was simply amazing. I was astonished by the fact it reminded me of New York City and Dominican Republic. People there spoke Spanish and Catalan. Catalan is similar to Spanish, but with French influences intertwined. The weather was beautiful It was in the 60's the whole weekend. It made traveling without tons of extra coats, much easier. The hostel, (which is a place you sleep at. It reminds me of dorms. They are MUCH cheaper than hotels) was amazing. They had great food and specials…See More

Halfway Point

Hello everyone,Well it is halfway through my semester. I am past midterms and should be getting my grades fairly soon. The way school works over here sometimes seems so different than what I am used to in the states. We have class once a week and its for four and a half hours. We do have a break in each. You do not have much reading assignments-in textbooks. You do have to go out and do research and projects. I must say I do miss the free printing and wide campus to do homework anywhere. Lol.…See More

Free Museums & Galleries

While in London I have noticed that the amount of free public educational services is much larger than the ones in the United States.  Over here they have free museums with the exception of the exhibitions have a cost. The museums are wonderful. They are full of so many inspirational pieces. So far, my favorite has been the Victorian & Albert Museum (The V&A). They have a timeline of fashion exhibit and a ballgown exhibit. They are exceptional. The amount of work to set up these displays…See More
