Ok so yesterday evening was this semester's first meeting of the African American Society, and I have to say that I was soooo impressed and happy with the turn-out. Not only did we have a lot of new freshman, but also upperclass students who joined as well. This meeting was spent to simply introduce ourselves and the organization. We also asked a fairly general question of everyone: How do you feel being a minority at Albright? To my pleasure, everyone expressed how at home they felt here. They…

Hello All!
I am so very excited. School started on the 25th, and let me tell you, I have not stopped since! It is pure craziness! I am taking four classes: Food and Culture, Introduction to Anthropology, Sociological Statistics, and Spanish 301. My professors are all wonderful in their own way, and each of them has so much to teach me (and the rest of the class, of course...)!
The most exciting thing right now though is You Are Here. For those of you who have not yet been enlightened, You Are He…

New Music:(Well...new in February - new to me now) Philip Glass: Songs and Poems for Solo Cello. It is performed by Wendy Sutter - and contains lots of repeating themes, pulsing beats, and turnarounds found in everything Glass. Very cool stuff.
New Movie: Hamlet 2!!! Amazing. This movie was the funniest I've seen in a while. I do concede that it is probably not as funny to someone not in the theatre, but still...go see it, its a good time.

Greetings from Australia!
After this week, I will officially have been in the beautiful Gold Coast for two months. Two months! Which means I've already had a month and half of classes! It was weird talking to everyone who was just starting school and complaining about classes knowing that I'm already almost half way done. Not that it really feels like school here. It feels more like a glorious vacation with some work thrown in here and there. I am officially in love with everything about here a…

Today is September 1st, 2008 - otherwise known as
Labor Day, which is a United States federal holiday - observed the first Monday of September. It originated in 1882 as the Central Labor Union of New York City, which is to provide a day off for the working citizens. (Wikipedia)
Albright has classes today, and most of the students are moaning, complaining and throwing a hissy fit. Facebook statuses are changing like wildfire. It's the sigh heard round the campus.
BOO HOO.

The first week of the semester has come to a close. The second week will soon be upon us all (myself included.) I can't believe one week has gone by and I'm a junior, (when did that happen? It's been a rollercoaster ride from day one. Getting back into the swing of things-classes, work and extra-cirriculars has been somewhat difficult.
Tomorrow is labor day, and unfortunately Albright has classes. I love my classes, I just don't love the work they entail, lol. Money of course is always tight and…

Now when everyone hears the terms "the first day of school," groans are sure to follow. However, when us Albrightians hear the phrase "first day back at Albright," cries of joy are usually heard. Don't get me wrong, summers are fantastic. They are a great way for us to be work-a-holics and not have to worry about academic pressures or severe time management. But there's just something about being back at college that feels....well....just right. It's so great to have everyone back at Albright an…

So, it was my first back from school with everyone moved in! It was pretty awesome!! I went to my first senior night last night and let me tell you it was sooooo much fun! I can't wait for everyone to experience it! As I was walking around and looking at all my fellow classman I felt an urge of happiness and sadness. The dj announced "lets here it for Albright Class of 2009!" Everyone screamed and was so enthusiastic about it as was I! Then after the claps and screams faded I thought to myself..…

well the first week of senior year has officially come to a close, and i honestly can't believe it. i decided to change my picture to reflect how awesome my final year as a POP truly was. (POP stands for Peer Orientation Person, someone who serves as a leader for the freshmen orientation program). This year, I was lucky enough to be on POPS Steering Committee, which is the group that plans and executes the orientation program. Seriously, POPS is like Christmas in August to me, and I couldn't be…

Hey yall!!! So the first week of school went very well. Classes started and I'm pretty excited. They are definately going to make me think but I feel as though my professors are also trying to get me to be creative. By urging us to formulate our own opinion's on the material we study, they're giving me the opportunity to do something great. I dont know if they know they're doing this but my professors are encouraging me to be expressive and they're opening up new doors for different ways of thin…

I don't know about everyone else, but weekends at school are for sleep sleep and more sleep! You work so hard during the school week that when Saturday and Sunday finally roll around, you take all the sleep you can get. Weekends are also for relaxing and having a good time with your friends. For example, a couple of my friends organized for 5 organizations to sponser a get-together in the recreation center for all the diversity on campus. Many persons of color, when trying to decide where they w…

I love new student move in day! Outside of Christmas morning and celebrating a Yankees World Series (which I won't see this year) there aren't many better days. Last Thursday, hundreds of new Albrightians arrived on campus to start the newest chapter in their life.

It's quiet in the Library...real quiet. It's a great place to go and get your study on, away from the noise and distractions of the dorms or campus center. But it is so quiet in there. Those cubicles are a great place to sit and bang out a paper or fill in the most recent Spanish workbook assignment (My cubicle is located 5th window in on the second floor...so leave that opened for me! Whew, there's been a lot of activity here at Albright. I've been back on campus since the 10th for R.A. training. An R.A. stands for

Assistant. R.A.s are upperclassmen who work for the Housing and Residential Learning Office. There are 35 of us. We enforce the rules and regulations of the College and are the go-to people in the residence halls. Of course I could go into more detail about the incredibly important role R.A.s play at any College, but I'll save that for some s…

So Tomorrow(Friday) I will be meeting with the class of 2012 for their freshman forum class because this year I was chosen to be a student mentor. For those of you who don't know, freshman forum is a mandatory requirement to graduate from Albright. You either pass or fail the class, but it doesn't count towards your GPA..sounds like a drag? There weren't many things holding me back from law school, except for my mom who was holding on to the back of my shirt, hoping I would not leave her. That hold became a loving embrace, that I reciprocated, and, unwillingly, let go.
