Wait, wait, wait.... it's almost DECEMBER!?

WOW! How is today already November 29th? It feels like it is September still. Only, its almost christmas and finals are coming up. It is crazy to think that this will be my last winter at Albright. Yet to make it through here are some things that make it a little more enjoyable.

1. Start…

Coming Back to School!

So happy belated Thanksgiving everyone! :) I hope you enjoyed it. I know I surely did. :) I'm so grateful for everything that I have and everyONE that I have in my life. It was really nice to see my entire family. We had a wonderful, very relaxing Thanksgiving. It was the first time in a LONG time that my entire family has been together. We fit 20 people around a table. There was great food and great…

The End is Near...

I always have conflicting emotions towards the end of a break.  Part of me wants badly for it to be extended, even for a day!  And the other part of me yearns to return and see all my friends that I miss from school.  Tonight is no exception.  On one hand I’m thinking about all of the homework I have procrastinated on, and on the other hand I’m thinking about how much I miss all of my housemates.  I had a…

Thanksgiving

Happy break everyone! I hope you're all enjoying your time off. I just got home today and I'm spending some time with my little sister! I'm going to use this as an opportunity for a shameless plug for her blog, world under fire. It's awesome, so check it out!

What's your favorite part about thanksgiving? For me it's spending time with my family, watching football, and loosening the belt a few notches, haha. If…

A Scream Mixed into a Quiet Day!

There's nothing as quiet as a college campus the day a break begins.  Our campus goes from being alive and vibrant with students everywhere, to so quiet you could hear a pin drop.  Today, however, for Albright employees it is another work day until 3 pm.  So we get to observe the quiet (can you observe quiet?).

Prior to holiday breaks the admission office attempts to get as many letters out as possible.  So the last three days has been very busy in the office.  We've been…

My ACRE was approved!

Something that you learn very early on at Albright is that research is available to everyone through the Albright Creative Research Experience, better known as ACRE.  As a senior, I thought that it may be a good idea to apply for one since I had not done so already.  In collaboration with Dr. Samuelsen from the Biology Department, I will be studying heat shock protein stress responses to various stimulants and will continue this research into the spring semester for my senior thesis.  I am…

What to be thankful about here at Albright

Every day I learn something new, or at least recall something.  Last week, I went to a Guidance Counselor session on the "Focus on the Sciences" where Dr. Campbell gave her usual wealth of knowledge to her audience, and it made me recall some little things that Albright has done for me as an undergrad.  For example, sophomore year during Organic Chemistry, we filled out a survey of what classes we would be taking the following semester.  While it seemed absurd, the faculty collected them so…

The Albright Experience

So I just got done with giving a bunch of tours to some fabulous future albrightians! There are some people who come to Albright who are looking for that place to call home and when they get here, they think oh this is just another college. Here at Albright, we make sure that when you finish a tour, you go home having an experience, not just another boring tour. We show you what Albright truely is....a community atmosphere where we can guarantee a best friend will be made before you…

Family dinner

So as Thanksgiving is quickly approaching I have been thinking a lot about my family and how much I miss them! not just being with them but the quality of the conversations that we have when we are all sitting down for dinner. Ever since I was little we always all ate dinner together no matter how late it was (we always eat around 8 haha). This never mattered to me cause I loved when everyone sat down together and we all talked about our days…

Formal

I am not really a formal guy. I road my bicycle twenty miles each way to my house last weekend in 30 degree and windy weather with non-matching gloves on. I like playing outside, I don't shave often enough, I would typically prefer to be hiking, and not showering doesn't bother me. Most nights I eat dinner out of the pot I cooked it in. I am not a formal guy.

Tonight, however, I am going to a formal. One of the sororities on campus is having their semesterly formal dance tonight and a…

Basketball season is here!

Basketball season is finally here now! We've been practicing for about three weeks and our first game is next Friday. I'm really excited to get started. We had a scrimmage last week against Moravian college and we played well. Yesterday we had a scrimmage against Muhlenberg college in Allentown. We played well again so the start of the season is looking good. We tip off next Friday at 8PM in the Bollman Center. Everyone should definitely come out and support the team. It should be a great…

Here We Come, Thanksgiving!

So who else is pumped about Thanksgiving?! ME! ME! I can't wait to go home and get a home cooked meal and spend time with my family. I'm a junior and I still miss home. Albright is so warm and inviting and I absolutely love it here, but there is nothing like being around family. The semester has been super crazy too! Classes demand a lot, but I'm really happy with all of my professors and they are so…

Novmeber when did you get here??

It seems to be busy season for everyone. I have hardly had time to even realize that it's November. Between all of my classwork and my internship (which is going excellently), not to mention my friends, girlfriend and Fraternity. Last night my fraternity had one of its Rush events we call it Alpha Sigma Phloorhockey. It's basically what it sounds like, we all get together in the Life Sports Center and play floor hockey. We just played for fun there was no tournament or anything like that. It…

Sweet Revenge!

Victory is so very sweet!!  Yesterday both the men’s and women’s swim teams defeated Widener.  Widener has long been our biggest MAC rival, and we have not beaten their men’s team in seven years.  Last year, it was a hard fought meet but we wound up losing to them in the last couple of events.  Then at MACs we beat them by only 13 points.  So needless to say we were out for revenge after losing last year.  We had…

It's All About Who You Know

One of the many advantages to attending a school like Albright College is the individual attention one can receive. One usually thinks of this in terms of the classroom, I got a completely different perspective two days during a trip to New York City to meet business alumni. Our day began in a Goldman Sachs conference room where we heard from three very successful alumni from our business program and their journeys to New York City. It was amazing to hear. Each of them shared the same story…

What you could be doing at Albright this weekend if you went here!

This weekend there are so many things going on!  Today, some of my residents have auditions for Albright Idol to sing and perform here on campus, so I hope they make it!  Tonight, there is a trip to the Eastern State Pennitentiary, which I am going on and am so scared!  Can't wait to go get a cheesesteak to eat beforehand down at Pat's though.  Tomorrow there is the Broadway trip for Sister Act and The Book of Mormon.  I was going to go with my Pop-Pop, but my grandmom is sick in the hospital,… Continue

Haunted Homecoming

Hey everyone!

I hope you had a great homecoming! What were some of your costumes? I love holidays at Albright becuase nothing stops us from going all out, not even a random October blizzard.

Unfortunately I spent my Halloween/Homecoming weekend working my tail off in catering. In total this past weekend I worked a whopping 33 hours. Lucky for me I didn't have class until 3pm on monday so I could rest up. One of my professors, Dr. Bellantoni, gave extra credit towards…
