These past few days have been simply wonderful. I am in Alicante, Spain, living with a young architect named Olga. We are living in a nice two bedroom apartment near El Mercado right in the middle of the city. She is an amazing cook and she has tons of awesome friends. The first time I met her we hit it off really well. After I had unpacked all of my things she asked if I wanted to go to a friend's house for lunch, which is the largest and most extensive meal of the day in Spain (it…Continue
So I arrived in Madrid around 11pm on July 1st and had no idea where to go in order to get my ticket. Eventually I found it and got my ticket for my flight from Madrid to Alicante. The woman who gave it to me said it was nuts to sit in the airport until my flight 8.5 hours later. I then found out that I needed to travel 30 min to get to the correct terminal. The entire place was EMPTY! I wasn't sure if I was going through restricted areas because I was the only person around.…

Oh my goodness, I cannot believe that the day is almost here! Tomorrow is the day that I leave my entire family in New Jersey to travel to Spain. I'll be leaving my house around 2pm so that my mom and sister can drop me off at the JFK airport before 6. Once there I will probably be reading a book in the airport once I get through customs and whatnot. I am super nervous since this will be my first time traveling outside of the country, let alone by myself.
My flight leaves…Continue
So finals are FINALLY over (for me they were done Friday) and this past week has been spectacular. I am officially a Senior! So far I have two B's and an A, so I'm waiting on two more classes. Other than that here's what's been going on:
So I got accepted into the study abroad program for
from July 2nd-July 30th (it's a good thing, too, since…Continue
This weekend was probably one of the most amazing weekends EVER!!! Saturday morning I woke up early to do laundry and get ready for the day. Around 1:00 I went over to the Softball game. It was a little bitter sweet. Saturday was senior day as well as the last game of the season. I had played softball with the seniors during my freshman year and it was nice to see them all play, but it was sad because that will be the last time that they do so for Albright College. During the game I…Continue

So, this is my first time ever participating in Greek Week. It has been sooo much fun!
Sunday we played Powderpuff Football, where Phi Mu won with the help of some amazingly talented sisters.
Monday we had Greek God and Godess, which is where a member from each Greek organization is chosen to represent their fraternity or sorority. Then they participate in a series of events, the first of which is the talent portion. Our representative was Amanda Schroeder, who…Continue

So the last few weeks have been quite adventurous. I have been SUPER busy with pledging. work, and classes. Over spring break I traveled with the softball team to Fort Myers, Florida. They played 2 games per day for 5 days with one day off for the beach. It was FABULOUS!!! When we got back I had a conference for Alpha Phi Omega at the University of Delaware. There we learned how to keep recruitment high and other ways to do fundraising and service projects. The most amazing part of…Continue

So these past few weeks have been CRAZY!!!
Some of the things that have happened:
Valentine's Day was one of the best days ever. My amazing boyfriend made me a giant cookie/cake. I absolutely LOVE peanut butter and the dessert he was was pure peanut butter cookie. As he gave me the cookie I also received my bid to Phi Mu. Before accepting I called my mom, who is like one of my closest friends. (YES, I am one of THOSE people). ☺. After talking for about ten…Continue

So it is the second week of classes and they are fabulous!!
I am currently taking 2 math classes, a physics class and 2 spanish classes. The math classes are probably the most difficult ones that I have had so far, but with the help of my professors and friends I am confident that I can get through it. The other three classes are going to be so much fun!
In my physics class (electronics) we are building circuits, which is really interesting. My…Continue

So since the beginning of January I have been doing my observation for the education department. I drive back and forth every day to Hamburg Area High School where I observe a variety of math, Spanish, and physics classes. I haven't really done too much as far as teaching a class goes, but I have been able to tutor students individually and in groups.
The thing that made the biggest impression on me was with one senior that I tutored. He didn't seem to understand the…Continue

So these past few weeks have been a bit crazy for me. I'm taking some pretty difficult classes while trying to juggle a few jobs in the middle, but I wouldn't have it any other way. These past two weekends were probably the busiest weekends for me, yet they were the most relaxing and fun.
On Friday the brothers of ΑΦΩ had a pledge fundraiser in which we had a donation cup for each pledge and a lot of brothers. Whomever received…Continue
So every Thursday I meet with a group called "Jesus Over Smokes and Chocolates." We come together with different themes each week and discuss philosophical and religious ideas. Today's discussion was about selfishness vs selflessness and what they entail. We decided that everything that mankind does is neither completely selfish nor completely selfless. Our terms are too black and white. We need to redefine everything as mostly selfish or mostly…Continue

The second weekend here at Albright has brought about quite a few things that I've been pondering. It all seems to stem from an incident regarding a good friend of mine.
This past Thursday my friend Andy got into a really bad biking accident near campus and had to be rushed to the hospital. Within a few hours many people at Albright knew of the accident. Andy is, without a doubt, one of the most selfless, repectable, and downright amazing people that I have ever had the…Continue

Today was the first day of classes and they were pretty interesting. Here's the schedule for today:
9am-10am: Classical Mechanics
11am-12pm: Abstract Algebra
1pm-2pm: Hispanics in the US
So far I've only had the first 3 classes, but it went well. We decided that we didn't want to meet 4 days a week for the classical mechanics class, so we moved class times around. (There are only 6 people in the class, so it wasn't difficult to…Continue

So, let's just say that my summer isn't necessarily ending on the right note.
It all started about 2 weeks ago when I got kicked in my knee. "By a horse?" you might ask. Unfortunately, the answer to that question is no. Much to my dismay, I have to admit that I was taken out by my nine-year-old sister. And no, this wasn't an accident. She just got sort of angry with me over something quite silly. So here I am with 3 weeks left in the summer and…

I just got back from a week-long vacation with my family to Florida. Unfortunately, it wasn't necessarily as relaxing as I had planned. The activities of the day revolved around my sister's behavior: if she was good we got to do something...if not, we did nothing. Let's just say that my little sister was NOT on her best behavior.
Don't get me wrong, we did some pretty cool things: I made a fool of myself while playing mini-golf; I got to pet some dolphins in Sea World; and I…Continue
