Victory is so very sweet!! Yesterday both the men’s and women’s swim teams defeated Widener. Widener has long been our biggest MAC rival, and we have not beaten their men’s team in seven years. Last year, it was a hard fought meet but we wound up losing to them in the last couple of events. Then at MACs we beat them by only 13 points. So needless to say we were out for revenge after losing last year. We had alumni come back so that they could finally see the day that we beat Widener. The atmosphere on deck was electric! We swam out of our minds fast, including sweeping (getting 1st, 2nd, and 3rd) both the 50 and 200 free. I won the 200 freestyle and went a time that I have never gone in season. It was so exciting for both teams. They pushed us to perform our best and it was truly one the greatest meets I have ever swam in. We defended our home pool with pride and definitely made a statement to our conference that we are the team to beat. We have a busy meet schedule the next two weeks, five to be exact. We swim Ursinus on Wednesday which historically has also been tough competition. Yesterday’s meet is going to give us incredible energy for the rest of the season.
