AHH! Tanzania!!

So sorry that I haven't been able to write! The internet here is sort of bad, I mean I am in Africa. But, yes, I have arrived safely, even though my luggage arrived 2 days after I did. That was an adventure.. luckily I packed my carry-on well so I had enough stuff to last me for those two days. So far I have seen every animal that appears in the Lion King and I have learned a lot about human-wildlife conflicts. Conserving the wildlife is a huge thing for Tanzania because the tourists that come to the national parks are the main source of income for the country. Basically, people are trying to educate the locals about different environmental procedures that will ultimately conserve the wildlife ecosystems. That is the main purpose for my studies here, and I can't believe how intriguing the topic is. We don't just sit in a classroom for lectures. We travel to towns where we meet guest speakers. We have sat in a school classroom, an open field, on top of a mountain, and in a swampy area for these lectures. It makes things a whole lot more interesting. I had to write my first paper the other day which was no fun at all, and I have a project due tomorrow, and another paper due Thursday. The workload doesn't seem to stop, but I am able to get a lot of free time here. One thing I've definitely taken a liking to is soccer. I like being active, but soccer was definitely never my thing. I'm getting better though, and I actually enjoy it. The staff here gets really involved with everything we do. They do sports with us, play games, and eat with us. They are absolutely amazing.

Well I'll try to write again as soon as I can! Unfortunately I can't upload pictures until I get back to the states because of the slow internet here, but just know that I can't wait to share a ton!
