Day 10

At DKNY today I got to bring out the new items that had to be put on the floor and help the lead merchandiser with the displays. She would put one example out how she wanted the displays to look and I would just fill in afterwards. She really makes everything looks simple, as if it second nature to her. I want to be able to reach that.  After we were done re-merchandising the floor, I went to take the sandals that wore not on sale off the floor. I brought out as much sandals as possible to the sandal fixture. I re-organized the fixture and then filled it in with the sandals that I had just brought out. Next I went on to peel off stickers of items that were double marked down in the stock rooms. For some reason they were not supposed to be marked down yet and we had to make sure they were priced right so we were not losing money.

Day 11

On my agenda for today I was given various tasks. My first on was to move the new purses that came in, onto the sales floor. I then organized all the merchandise on the floor. I got to help the lead merchandiser again. She would set what she wanted and I would fill. I had to remove the perfumes and back-stock the rest of the items that didn’t fit on the first floor display. After this project I went on to collecting all the black plastic pant hangers that did not have any merchandise on them. I put them organize in a box and it was sent out to the DKNY outlet stores. The store manager then gave me an article from WWD called, ”Brand Names Increase in Popularity Among Shoppers,” by Jean E. Palmieri. It was about how brand names differ in the choices where people shop. It was an interesting article. DKNY was included in the article having 25% of women choose them as their go-to brand. I love the fact that the store manager cares to keep us informed, because sometimes we do not have the same sources as them. They help us be on top of everything, truly caring.

Day 12

Today was like many other days, I had to refill the shoe wall and re-merchandise it to make sure it looked its best. I then went on to refilling the bathing suits. We have a bathing suit sale and have to make sure we sell out of the bathing suits because we are getting out Fall B shipment soon. We have to make sure we change the mindset of the people so they start purchasing the fall items. I refilled any other fixtures that are missing merchandise according to store standards. It is important to be sure that all sizes and colors are represented on the floor. Sometimes the associates are helping another customer or the customer does not want help from an associate. If they do not see the size on the floor they assume we do not have it and they just keep walking. This decreases our sales and we cannot reach our goals. It is important that every chance you get reevaluate the small details you have to make you and your company go farther.
