One of our past employees texted me last week with a very quick, but valuable message. He wrote, "Never underestimate the response a hand-written note gets". He went on to tell me that at his new job he had spent an extensive amount of time writing out notes of thank you and follow-up and he was receiving a lot of responses from those notes.
Whether applying for college or a job, networking, or simply sending a thank you note because of kindness a hand written note gets noticed. Emails, texts, and Facebook postings are nice, but a note is personal. Hand writing a note takes longer, it is usually written with thought, and are personal.
We love hand written notes at Albright because it represents the kind of education that we represent:
- personal
- appreciative
- lasts the test of time (new forms of communication will come and go, notes will be around forever)
- priceless
So a piece of advice for your college search and application process, send hand written notes to those that you meet and those that you wish to be remembered by. You'll be surprised at the results!
