Internship Updates

Summer is speeding by!!  Important news…less than two weeks until my birthday, my 21^st birthday!  My friends are busy making plans so I’m sure it is going to be a great time.  There are tons of places to go in Reading that are pretty close to the school.  My internship is going well.  Lately I have been doing a lot of organizing.  Making binders, hole punching, labeling - grunt work basically, but I am happy to do it.  Organization makes working so much easier and more productive.  It is stuff that my supervisor just does not have time in her crazy schedule to do.  Lately I have also been doing a lot of research on Emergency Medicine Residency Programs in the vicinity of Reading Hospital: including programs like Lehigh Valley, St. Lukes, Drexel, Temple, Hershey, York, etc.  They are hoping to eventually start an Emergency Medicine Residency Program at the Reading Hospital, which is exciting because I might be able to apply for it when I graduate from Medical School.  I have been doing research on retention, basically figuring out if residency programs in the local areas are good feeders for employment in their affiliated hospital’s Emergency Department.  I hope it gets off the ground because Reading ED would create an incredible teaching program for residents.
