I ran into a little bit of traffic coming into work today…It was called FRESHMAN MOVE IN DAY! I drove right past my roommates doing their job as POP’s, aka directing traffic and being ridiculously obnoxious! It all took me right back to my move in day two years ago. A lot of it kind of just blobs together because it’s so much craziness and so much excitement all wrapped up into one. But the overall experience stayed with me over the past two years.
I probably had the best POP’s ever my freshman year. They were so amazing and so willing to help with anything they could. They made sure I met all of the theatre and music students, showed me where to sign up for auditions, and they were just genuinely good people. The whole year they would always say “hi” or stop me to make sure everything is going well. They just helped to make it a positive experience!
This freshman class should be a lot of fun! I love getting to see if any of the students I toured are coming to Albright. I think this year I recognized four or five students…which is AWESOME! Plus I usually recognize more just from working at the front desk. It’s kind of amazing to get to see students come in as freshmen and then just see how they grow over the next few years.
Freshmen year alone you grow up extremely fast. You get to be out on your own, possibly for the first time, and it could be terrifying. But more than that, it’s probably the best thing ever. You learn so much about yourself right away and you get to see what it is you’re really made of. You’re in control of your education and you’re in control of your life. And it’s an absolutely fantastic feeling.
Well there’s my philosophical rambling for the day! Have a safe move in day everyone!
