Albright College

So as this spring semester begins, it opens up a whole new page in my life.  Last semester I was studying abroad in London (AMAZING!).  It took me out of my comfort zone and allowed me to really see how independent I could be on my own, even though I did have fellow Albrightians Stephanie Garcia and Pamela Duran with me.

As a result of my newfound independence, I stepped into overtime upon my return.  I went back to being a member of Club Vogue, decided to start writing for the fashion newsletter here at school, was asked to blog for Albright, recieved a Vice President position in my sorority, got an internship at a local boutique called Firefly on Penn and another internship at a national college fashion blog called CollegeFashionista.  So let's just say I will be a little busy this semester, but I am extremely excited.

Firefly on Penn has been amazing so far.  It is a boutique on Penn Ave in West Reading that carries baby clothes and toys. They also carry knick knacks for women like soaps from France, soy candles and a witty girly line called Anne Taintor that has everything from flasks to coin purses.  The owner, Rebecca, allows me to really grow with all the responsibilities she gives me.  I have already been processing shipment, redid the entire front window, and did a wall display in the store.  The front window I did, she ended up loving!  I was really excited because I wasn't exactly sure of what style she wanted or how she liked things done.  I have gotten some visual merchandising experience working at an American Eagle branch, Aerie for two years and it has definitely helped me prepare for my position at Firefly.

For CollegeFashionista I have to do a weekly article on accessories worn by students that attend Albright. So I take their picture and write an article about it using 250-500 words. It has proved to be a bit of a challenge with yoga pants and sweatshirts being the most popular for getting back into the swing of things at school.  The articles have definitely helped with my writing skills.  The editors are also really helpful with their feedback and comments. You can check out my articles here! http://www.collegefashionista.com/author/christinadaniels/

I can't wait to gain a hands-on experience in my field and learn more about the industry. I'll be writing about my job experiences this semester. So be sure to check back to gain a little insight into my world.  I'll be open to any questions you might have along the way!

Great first post Christina! I'm so happy you've made time to blog for the ELCDC on top of everything else. You're one busy girl. I look forward to hearing more.
