The subway System J
I am actually amazing by how all this works. As much of a nerd I may sound; the people that help create this system of transportation are GENIOUSES! Your metro card gets your ticket to a new adventure. I must say I have gotten lost a few times, but this made me learn more about NYC. Next time I had to travel I knew new trains to travel or places to go because I got lost. If you will be staying in the city I suggested getting the unlimited because you never know what your day will consist of.
What I see on the train:
Singers & Dancers showing off their skills to get recognized and get money
homeless people trying to make a dime, to make it though the day
workers rushing from one place to the other, with worried or stressful looks on their face
children that know way more than what my generation knew at their age
couples fighting or being extra romantic
Snakes- YES I HAVE SEEN (LIVE) SNAKES(on a train haha).. a guy walking around asking for money to help keep the snake
People eating food- I have actually gone to the extent of eating rice on the train. My cousin said I was an official New Yorker because of that. HAHA. Hey, you have to make sure you get your meals in. J
LOTS of people reading books, newspapers, magazines, and kindles.
Writing
Games on Apple products and people listening to music.
I love people watching. Seeing how people act(or don’t), and speak is amazing. Yesterday there was a group of people from Spain. I loved hearing their conversation on how the American dollar works and tips. It was quite funny. The one guy said “America, the land of giving tips! Also, where their coin size does not match its value; in accordance to the other coins.” I must agree with him. How is it that our Dime is worth 10cents and it is smaller that our nickel which is worth 5 cents.
Great thing about the train is that you get to see all different types of fashion. You get to see the different trends developing or which are dying if you pay close attention.
Last but not least. The subway is VERY hot in the summer. While you are waiting for the train, you are probably sweating off your last meal if your are waiting long enough. The trains are usually air-conditioned.
All in all, the subway system is just a train ride to open new doors. HAVE FUN!
